"K S N Raju is a retired professor of chemical engineering with involvement in chemical engineering education and research covering graduate and undergraduate students for 50 years. He received BSc (Honors) degree in chemical engineering from Andhra University in 1958, M.Tech from IIT Kharagpur in 1959 and PhD from Punjab University in 1971. Dr Raju has been involved in active interaction with the industry, taking up projects and executing them with the induction of graduate students’ onsite in selected industries. He has also been responsible for developing chemical engineering departments at Panjab University, Chandigarh, India; Padmasri Dr B V Raju Institute of Technology, Andhra Pradesh, India; and BS University of Technology, Libya; besides being involved in curriculum development for several institutions as member of their boards of studies. Dr Raju has published over 90 papers and articles in international magazines and journals. He has supervised graduate research at doctoral and postdoctoral levels, and reviewed publications in international journals and magazines in engineering, including the prestigious assignment by Applied Mechanics Reviews of American Institute of Mechanical Engineers. He has delivered invited lectures on plate heat exchangers at the NATO Advanced Research Institute along with highly distinguished speakers at the international level. He has given onsite courses in industry, covering refineries, gas processing, petro¬chemical, and fertilizer plants with practice-oriented approach, including lectures on several areas of chemical engineering to trainees and practicing engineers in petroleum and petrochemical industry and at international forums. His authorships include the book Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, and Mass Transfer: Chemical Engineering Practice as a joint publication of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and an American publisher. His other publications include Low Reynolds Number Heat Exchanger Design along with several distinguished authors by and an earlier book on Applied Chemistry."

Being the complete potterhead that I am, I loved this book. I reccommend it for anyone who is interested in reading an informative encyclopedia-like book that you can find in the home of many wizarding folk. This book is supposed to be in similar format to a dictionary. DO NOT BUY IT IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A STORY. This book is used in the wizarding world as a guide on topics such as where to find a Hippogriff or what a knarl really is. Page wise, it is on the small side and lacks pictures, but if you love it as much as I do, it doesn't really matter. Multible people gave this only one star (undeservingly so in my opinion). Many of these people did so purely because they didn't research the product (by using the internet or READING THE HP BOOKS) before buying and were looking for a fairly tale or story similar to the new upcoming movie based on the book, not an encyclopedia. Do not let these bad reviews stop you from buying this book. I do suggest actually going to a book store rather than buying it from amazon though. That way, you will be able to skim through the pages and see if this is your kind of book. In addition, I read a few unsettling reviews about how in the name of God there is going to be a movie made based on the book. In case you are interested the movie is going to be about the author, Magizoologist Newt Scamander. Hope my review was helpful.

I was very worried when I read all the reviews and they were all for the screenplay. I already have the screenplay AND have seen the movie but have been waiting for the re-release of the actual Fantastic Beasts encyclopedia. Thank goodness it was exactly what I was hoping for! This book introduces all the different magical beasts and gives you different information about them. It is a great companion book to help better appreciate the movie! The hard cover is beautiful and the pages even have a glossy feel. I only paid $7 for it and feel it is definitely worth more with how nice of a quality the actual book is. I haven't read any of it yet but will update after I do!

It is beyond disappointing that they took the "handwritten" notes out of the book. What is more frustrating, is I intentionally did not buy the three book packaged set because it clearly stated that the notes were not in the book in that box set, so I purchased the books individually because in the preview of this book it shows the notes. Upon further review, I see now that there a very fine print note that says that the preview book is a different version, but still, this is absolutely poor form and very frustrating.

A lot of fun for Harry Potter fans. My nine year old daughter loved it. She really enjoyed the funny hand written comments included throughout the book as if it were a student text book.

Just a heads up! This is NOT the screenplay. This book is the literal "guide" to the beasts "written" by Newt Scamander.This book is a very short, cute guide to all the beasts and includes a few doodles of the beasts as wel. It's not a thrilling read or anything, but it's a good read if you love the series and the movie.

My son Daniel received Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them for Easter and we had a grand time reading it together. He enjoyed the movie over the winter, but he really liked this textbook by Newt Scamander on the fantastic beasts that he had found over the world.The book starts with a great introduction defining what a beast is and how they are classified. It also talked about how Muggles interact with the magical world of beasts. One of Daniel’s favorite items was a list of the Ministry of Magic Classifications of the beasts going from “X - Boring to “XXXXX – Known Wizard Killer / Impossible to Train or Domesticate.” The book lists all beasts alphabetically with a brief description of what they are and how they are classified. He bookmarked the classification scheme so he could quickly flip back and take a look at it with each beast.Daniel’s favorite beast was the Hodag. In particular it was his favorite because “It is now confined, mostly successfully, to a protected area around Wisconsin.” We had to look it up outside of the book and read how the legend persists in the Wisconsin north woods. Daniel was convinced then that J.K. Rowling has visited Wisconsin and he thought that was very awesome.Overall, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a quick enjoyable book. Even young 9-year old Daniel was impressed that proceeds all go to charity. The best piano books I could find!And you don't feel like a little child playing stupid A-B-C melodies!

I self taught through this book. I liked working through it, but there are pros and cons. I started with "Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course" and didn't like it at all, so I bought this book. It has a very good selection of music and was enjoyable to play. You move around a lot, not just staying in middle C position and it works fingers of both hands, not just chords on the left hand like Alfred's. I felt like I wanted more pieces to work through and more technique and theory. I could play the songs alright, but I didn't feel like I got a very good instruction in playing, even though I could play the pieces. If you want to be able to sit a play some and not get too serious this book is great. I really want to dive in and have a deeper education on the piano. I contacted an instructor who I've started with and she recommended the Accelerated Piano Adventures series. I bought the 4 main books in the Accelerated series and it cost me about $4 more than this book, but there is a great deal more music between them and I wish I had had these books from the beginning. So the Adult Piano Adventures is great book and I love the spiral binding, but especially if you are going to self-teach I recommend the Accelerated series from the same authors/arrangers.

I am an adult eaching myself to play the piano and I like the music selections in this book. When I was around page 50 or so though and felt like I was missing something... I don't think there are enough examples or explanations of each concept. Each page teaches a concept, there are one, maybe two short pieces to practice, then on to the next concept. I ordered the version for "Older Beginners" which has 3-5 books versus one (although not spiral bound), and there are many more pieces to practice on, and each concept is explained a little more simply and thoroughly. That seems to suit my old, antiquated brain speed a little better.

 This book is amazing , I highly recommend it for everyone who wants to play the piano. The songs are great and the book is really easy to follow. I'm 17 and learned how to play the piano using this book and others from this collection ! It's worth it! The video is from me playing a few months after I got the book , the book teaches you enough theory so that you can read whaterver song you'd like to play.

I teach piano and one day a week I teach in a senior living facility. There are always seniors who are just starting or taking up piano again after many years. The Faber Adult books are wonderful for this purpose. None of the too-adorable graphics that are found in the children's beginning books. It's difficult to find good beginning books for adult. Either they don't teach enough or they move too fast. This book is just challenging enough to hold their interest but at the same time it has enough repetition of concepts that the student doesn't get overwhelmed . Great book for adults of any age, plus it's good for older children or teens who cringe at the sight of frogs, cats or gnomes on every page and the childish titles given to every song.

so i've been following the directions out of this book for about 2 weeks and am on Unit 9 so far. It's a wonderful book and the pacing is perfect. I have never played an instrument in my life, am 34 years old, and practice for about 30-60 minutes every night and the amount of progress I'm making seems good. The supporting online materials are also good but I wish the accompanying/demo tracks were just piano, because sometimes you just want to hear how the piano should sound on a particular piece. Luckily there are plenty of you tube videos demonstrating every piece of music in this book. The music selections themselves are pretty good. Some of the tunes I've never heard before but rather enjoy playing them now that I can. Others are pretty forgettable, but for the most part it's a good mix of music that you should recognize.

I had never played an instrument before, not even knowing how to read music. I'm roughly halfway through this book, but I can now read both bass and treble staff fairly quickly, and I'm able to play simple songs utilizing both hands. This book breaks things down into small chunks and allows you to practice until you're proficient before moving on to the next small chunk. When I finish this I'm definitely going to get Book 2.

I am a beginner and at first, I tried an all in one book from another author in amazon. After few months, I saw my self lost in Majors C,D,E,F,G...Z :))) without having enough focus and practice on each one. It was confusing and the songs in each lesson was not interesting to me. Then I decided to try Piano adventure which I heard from youtubers in which songs are more attractive and lessons are well organized. So, I bought it and in comparison with the other book, I should say, yes! it was true. The lessons have a fluent direction and you will be focusing on only two Majors, C & G. So, you practice enough to play nice songs through and by the end of the book.I highly recommend this book!

I'm the most unqualified person to review a piano book, but I'll give it a try. I'm currently using the Learn and Master DVD program which is good but can put you to sleep at times. I would recommend this book with a teacher, although you can learn a lot just by yourself. I do think it progresses a little fast though. It does have nice large print diagrams of such things as placement of your fingers and what the notes are on the staff. I also give any book an well deserved star for being spiral bound. I wish more educational type books would do that. When I bought this I read the reviews for it and Alfred's Basic Piano Course. I bought them both. I think that (Alfred's) moves a little slower but does lack the examples that Adult Piano Adventures has. With any book, I would say what they say in the Learn and Master course, that is to break it down and slow it down. You don't have to play at waltz time while you are learning Mary Had a Little Lamb. What ever you do, have fun. Ric said that.
